The James S. McFadden Resource Center, a nonprofit 501(c)3 tax exempt and multifaceted organization founded in 2001

MRC has the distinct pleasure of serving young people in our community by developing literacy and philanthropic programs as well as partnering with organizations to further assist existing programs to garner greater success.

Our organization prides itself on being extremely flexible. We have the necessary components to produce innovative, original programming, but we are also motivated to collaborate with other programs. To date we have partnered with school systems, court systems, ACJC, The Landing, Boys and Girls Club, Community Harvest, Youth Service Bureau of the YMCA, and Brightpoint.

McFadden Resource Center puts people and education first. It brings communities together in ways that enrich the lives of people of all ages. I love their programs and the compassion they give to others.

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO INVOLVE PEOPLE AFFECTED BY PROBLEMS?

LET'S SAY YOU HAVE A ROCK IN YOUR SHOE. NO ONE OTHER THAN YOU KNOWS EXACTLY HOW THAT ROCK FEELS. OTHERS MAY HAVE READ ABOUT ROCKS, SEEN ROCKS, OR STUDIED THEM.

HOWEVER, YOU ARE THE EXPERT ON THIS PARTICULAR SITUATION BECAUSE YOU ARE EXPERIENCING IT.

It's important for us to involve people who are affected by a problem to help solve a problem because...

1.  It gives the community an opportunity to listen and understand them better.

2. They become involved in the initiative or program which empowers them to tackle the problems they personally confront.
